Quarter 4 COVID-19 Business Update — *FREE* Pre-Recorded Webinar
There are so many books for business owners out there full of wisdom and insight. I’ve compiled a list of 5 books for business owners that have really changed my outlook on this journey, and I hope you’ll give them a try!
Traction is an incredible book for many reasons, but my favorite reason is that it helps entrepreneurs create an operating system. It is so important to have an operating system in place when you are scaling your company. Wickman also splits your company into six categories that will help you organize EVERYTHING in your business.
It is worth mentioning that Wickman also wrote a book called Rocket Fuel. I read it with my business partner when we first decided to start our partnership and it truly changed our outlook on the process and helped us along in so many ways.
Patrick Lencioni has written one of the best books for business owners on the market. The 5 Dysfunctions of a Team is all about building and creating trust in your organization. Trust is the very foundation of successful companies. We have used this book in transitional periods in our firm and have seen great success from the lessons in Lencioni’s book. There is also a workbook that is a really great tool when working through this book as a team.
Brené Brown has written countless books for business owners that have changed my outlook completely. I have read Dare to Lead at least three times and have gotten something new out of it each time. My biggest takeaway from this book is that you have to be brave to be a leader. It also takes an extremely brave person to lead in a different way than other leaders you are surrounded by. Brown speaks about how important it is to come to work with your whole heart. This advice is in high contrast to the status quo in the corporate environment, but that is what makes it so groundbreaking.
Braving the Wilderness is one of my favorite books because of how much I love the concept of BRAVING, an acronym used throughout the book to define the anatomy of trust. You can see this blog post to learn more about what BRAVING is all about! Through this book, Brown teaches us how to build trust in our organizations. Trust is the absolute foundation of any business; I can’t say enough how much I have learned from this book!
Last on my list of books for business owners, I must talk about The Founder’s Mentality. This is a great book for anyone going through the process of scaling their company. Above all, it is a read that will guide you through the highs and lows of building a company. When you are in the middle of growing pains in your business, it can be difficult to see a way out. This book has given me so much clarity in these times.
As a founder, it helped me to see what I need to bring to the table to help my team grow into the next season.
I hope that you enjoyed hearing about my five favorite books for business owners; I am happy to recommend all of these books a million times over and hope that you check them out. Don’t forget to contact us if you have any questions about scaling your own company and how you can get there!
